How to Test Splitters with Splitter OTDR?

It is difficult to test splitters by OTDR, especially to test high ratio splitters like 1: 64 or 1:128. There are two ways to know exactly the loss at a point on an OTDR trace.
In the two-point method, AB two spots are taken at both ends of this point, the closer it is to this point, the better. Finally, the point to be tested is selected to obtain the loss at this point.
In the five-point method, take two points at each end of the test point, through the change of their slope, finally select the point to be tested, you can get the loss at this point.
In fact, the point selected by the OTDR cursor is calculated in this way, which is generally of little practical significance.

Optical Time Domain Reflectometer is a device used to detect failures in fiber optic links in a communications network. The operation of the device involves the production and transmission of a series of high-speed optical pulses within the fiber. Changes within the fiber create a back scatter according to the Rayleigh distribution. The pulses are then returned to the ODTR where their intensity is measured. The signal strength returned is an indication of the location and severity of the failure. ODTR is used not only for maintenance but also for installation of optical communication lines. In addition, international telephony networks also use ODTR to improve line connections.

What is SMA905 Connector in High power Fiber Optics

The designs of all “high-power” SMA905 (HPSMA905) connectors currently available are essentially the same. A metal ferrule is held tightly around the cladding of a fiber optic with a polished (or possibly cleaved) end surface.
