Huawei is currently the only real 5G supplier

2018-11-24

At the Global Mobile Broadband Forum in London on November 21, Neil McRae, senior manager and chief architect of British Telecom, BT, unexpectedly publicly alerted Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung and ZTE, declaring: " Now there's only one real 5G supplier, and that's Huawei. Other suppliers need to try to catch up with Huawei.

” Perhaps it is because in Huawei's global Mobile Broadband Forum, McRae is in support of the good intentions to say the remarks.

But it is certain that BT's senior management has expressed a clear view that Huawei's 5G rivals are now in some predicament and that they need to improve their competitiveness. "Recently I have been to Shenzhen (Huawei headquarters), where you can see outstanding results far ahead of the rest of the world. "McRae emphasized in the forum discussion.

He was referring to his recent visit to Huawei when he saw Huawei show its leading 5G results in Shenzhen, although he did not address specific details of progress during the forum discussion. "Other suppliers should study like Huawei-they are being dragged down by the old problems of telecommunications." He added, and then expressed his recognition and gratitude to Huawei for its tremendous contribution to BT's future network development. (Refer to BT's 5G program: BT will deploy 1,500 5G sites in 2019 to compete with Vodafone.)

Of course, this is just the view of an operator's top management, but McRae itself is an outspoken man, and he is well aware of the impact of statements made in public. This is clearly the way he reminds other 5G wireless access providers, who, in his view, are now lagging behind Huawei.

It also shows that Huawei in the current 5G market by virtue of the leading 5G technical capabilities have been welcomed by everyone.

For BT, which has the UK's largest mobile network operator EE, and other major operators, it is not a good phenomenon to be one of the leading suppliers in R & amp; d and support services, so operators naturally require multiple vendors to provide leading innovative technology solutions for 5G deployments.

As McRae at the Huawei-sponsored event, senior executives at recent Chinese suppliers highlighted the company's progress in integrating multiple technologies into small, energy-efficient devices and the introduction of artificial intelligence into network operations (Q&M), reducing the operating costs of mobile network operators. Even in the early stages of 5G, Huawei's current leadership in 5G will give Huawei a large share of the overseas 5G wireless access product market. (Refer to Huawei's announcement that it has shipped 10,000 5G base stations outside China.)

) It is clear from Huawei's mobile broadband forum that major operators from Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia still have a strong support and welcome for Huawei, despite concerns in the industry about the technical safety of the deployment of Chinese equipment suppliers.
