Verizon together with Samsung announces release of 5G smartphone in first half of next year

Samsung and U.S. operator Verizon announced it will release a 5G smartphone in the first half of next year, foreign media reported.

The phone will carry Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile Platform, equipped with Snapdragon X50 5G nr modem and antenna modules, as well as integrated RF transceivers, RF front-end and antenna components.

Verizon had previously promised to start commercial 5G mobile networks in the first half of next year. Announcements from two companies could point to a galaxy S10 phone dedicated to Verizon's 5G support.

According to a recent report by South Korea's Yonhap news agency, Samsung plans to release its flagship Galaxy S10 smartphone next February, which could be followed by the release of a collapsible galaxy F phone and a version of the Galaxy S10 that supports online commerce next March 5G. Another Wall Street Journal report said Samsung wanted to rekindle interest in its Galaxy smartphone family by making major upgrades and design adjustments to the Galaxy S10 smartphone. This major upgrade and design adjustment will bring 5G networking capabilities and up to 6 cameras to the planned Galaxy S10 smartphone.

The report also said Samsung was discussing an exclusive sales channel cooperation agreement with Verizon in the United States. Verizon and Samsung did not provide any further details about the planned 5G smartphone.

 

This is the second 5G mobile terminal announcement released by Verizon.

The operator said in August that it would be able to connect to Moto Mod,mod, which can connect to its 5G mobile network, to be connected to Motorola's smartphone, allowing the device to connect to Verizon's 5G network. In addition to Verizon, Sprint has said it will sell a 5G-backed LG smartphone next year, while AT&T is promising to sell Netgear Nighthawk 5G mobile hotspots at some point this year, The operator has pledged to open 5G mobile networks in parts of more than 10 cities by the end of the year.
