The 2018 World fiber optic cable Conference, co-hosted by CRU (British Institute of Commodities) and Fortis Group, opened in Hangzhou November 6.

As the world's top fiber optic cable industry event, the conference gathered more than 800 optical fiber optic cable industry chain manufacturers, industry experts, customer representatives, and jointly discussed the fiber optic cable industry in the 5G era after the prosperity of the new opportunities and challenges. Wang Jianyi, chairman of the Zhejiang Federation of Chinese and Commerce and chairman of Fortis Group, said in the opening speech of the meeting.

With the development of fiber optic cable industry, 5G will play a very important role. As early as the 3G and 4G era, the base station between the optical interconnection and data flow growth inversion backbone network upgrade, resulting in a large number of fiber optic cable demand, making China a core market that occupies half of the world's production and sales. To date, 4.2 billion of kilometers of fiber have been installed around the world, with China accounting for 1.6 billion cores, according to CRU data.

At present, China accounts for 65% of global bare fiber production and 62% of the world's optical cable production. Wu Heguan, an industry authority expert and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, pointed out at the meeting that China will achieve 5G commercial in 2020, the number of base stations required in the 5G era will be about 4-5 times that of the 4G era, the bandwidth is 10 times times that of the 4G era, and the dense network of 5G base stations needs to apply a large number of fiber optic cables

Greater demand and higher standards are proposed for optical networks. As in previous sessions, this session has set up Fortis, long flying, Beacon, Hengtong, Zhongtian "Big Five" leader speech and roundtable discussion session, this year in Hangzhou, can be said to be "West Lake on the sword."
